Honoring the first President of the United States, Boonsboro citizens erected the first monument to George Washington, a rugged stone tower, in 1827 on the mountainside now within the park. Other features include rental pavilions, playground and a portion of the Appalachian Trail. There are youth group campsites available by reservation. The park offers picnic shelters and playing fields. It's a superb park for bird watching because the Cumberland Valley is a migratory bird flyway. Birding enthusiasts gather for an annual count of migrating hawks and eagles at the monument.
Reservations must be made 1 Day(s) ahead of arrival and can be made up to 365 Day(s) in advance.
Park Hours: April - October, 8:00 am - Sunset. November - March, 10:00 am - Sunset.
