Description

Whether you are looking for a few hours of tranquil paddling, or a full-day expedition and overnight experience, you'll find it at Janes Island State Park. This park is surrounded by Chesapeake Bay waters and features rental cabins, pavilions, campsites and the Daugherty Creek Lodge. More than 30 miles of marked water trails dissect a 2,900 acre Chesapeake Bay salt marsh island, a natural paradise with few signs of civilization. Limitless vistas over shallow bays, marshes and low vegetation impart a sense of space and solitude. Most of the waterways are protected from wind and current, providing ideal conditions for the novice, as well as the experienced paddler. Janes Island offers a tranquil paradise. Anglers enjoy easy access to the Bay and fish for striped bass, spot, croaker, flounder and bluefish. A family favorite at Janes Island is crabbing-- where you quickly learn why Maryland is for Crabs!!
